BUILDING COMMUNITY CHURCH@HOME

CHURCH@HOME

Church@Home is church for everyone, everywhere. It’s gathering with other people, wherever you live, to do church together each week. We are reimagining spaces to connect with people so we are not limited by borders, buildings, or parking lots.

Church@Home is encountering God in community.

Wherever you are in the world, you can experience real, authentic community through Church@Home.

INTRODUCTION

OUR MISSION

Churchome exists to tell the story of Jesus to the world. Our heart is that every person—every age, every race—would find a home in God.

A home where they belong.

BUILDING COMMUNITY CHURCH@HOME

page-7-quote-mark-11.png

Normally my Easter would be very full with services in a building and then spending time with my family. This year we couldn’t do either. As a result we decided to do something outside in our cul-de-sac with our neighbors, socially distanced.

We sent our neighbors a link to the Churchome mobile app and told them about our online Easter services. That afternoon, after church, we hung out with our neighbors and celebrated Easter with our street! It was a fun way to spend Easter, and gave us a unique opportunity to deepen our friendship with our neighbors!

BUILDING COMMUNITY PASTOR CHAT

CHURCHOME  ANNUAL REPORT 2019–2020

We have revolutionized the way we engage our community by leveraging technology.

Pastor Chat provides a way for anyone who would like prayer support, encouragement, or answers to specific and general questions to connect with a real, live human. People can connect via the Churchome website or mobile app. The technology allows for online chat, phone calls, and video calls.

PASTOR CHAT

page-9---pastor-chat-image.jpg

BUILDING COMMUNITY PASTOR CHAT

Between January and June 2020, we have had more than 10,000 conversations with people from all over the country and world! These conversations have resulted in decisions for Christ, communion, baptisms, and helping people plug into community.

One Pastor Chat team member shares:

I led communion for someone tonight. He messaged in saying, “Hi I have wine and a Big Mac, and I wanted to do communion at home.”

I said, “That sounds like a great idea and absolutely, let’s do it!” I led him through the communion prayers and verses and we both said, “Amen.” Afterwards, he shared, “Growing up, Communion was just a thing we did every week like just going through the motions. This feels special and different.”

He then thanked me, we prayed, and our conversation ended. It was a really special moment and I was just in awe, again, of the fact that there’s no limit to the love of Jesus. He can and will meet us on a Friday night with a Big Mac and a glass of wine and persuade us to reach out to a pastor on a phone to take communion and remind ourselves of what He has done & who we are in Him!

DIGITAL MEETUPS

With the onset of a global pandemic in early 2020, Churchome shifted our efforts from in-person groups to digital meetups to connect people.

Churchome offers meetups for every season of life—ranging in a variety of different activities, as well as meaningful conversations.

As a result of COVID-19, we quickly mobilized digital meetups for our young people. Our shift to digital ministries increased our digital attendance by more than 3 times. ChurchKids releases fresh content each week and holds weekly ChurchKids parties every Sunday.

Youth@Home meetups also launched, providing opportunities for young people to get encouraged and make new friends.

RACIAL JUSTICE COMMITMENT

Churchome is committed to Racial Equity, Justice, and Diversity.

We recognize systemic racism is an ongoing issue in America and around the world, and that the resulting consequences can be devastating. We are committed to being a part of the solution, and as such, have taken some actionable steps.

In May, we began weekly Open Conversations on Race to create a space for our community to have ongoing conversations for growth and change.

Through October 2020, our community raised and gave $167,000 specifically for our racial justice efforts.

We partnered with organizations that have been actively working to counteract the systemic issues of racism.

UPLIFT

Love your neighbor. Embrace the world.

Churchome is committed to being ready and available to do whatever we can to support local and global initiatives that express the love of Jesus. We can’t do everything, but we can do something to uplift and respond to the real needs of real people in real time.

In the midst of COVID-19, our community has responded with overwhelming generosity. As a result, we have been able to:

COVID-19 RESPONSE

• Give $1M to Convoy of Hope to provide one million meals.

• Give more than $135,000 in direct financial assistance to people and families nationwide.

• Serve nearly 11,000 weekly groceries to families in Washington and California.

SYC is a day dedicated to serve and uplift our communities. This annual initiative seeks to bring our global community together in one collective effort, through multiple small-group meetups.

With 23 initiatives within the Seattle & Los Angeles areas, 320 volunteers served 1,280 hours towards projects that impacted our communities.

SERVE YOUR CITY 2019

A young family arrived with their one month old baby. This was their first baby. They shared that they came the prior week to get groceries. Over the weekend, their newborn had broken out with a bad diaper rash. They didn’t have any diaper rash cream. The dad went to multiple stores to find cream and couldn’t.

When he got home he looked through the bags of groceries as they remembered asking for diapers from us at the grocery drive. They found a container of diaper rash cream in the bag. Both mom and dad were in tears telling me this story and verbatim said “This is how I know God exists. He cared about me enough to provide diaper rash cream for my baby.”

A single dad shared that his wife was fighting for her life at UW hospital and he had two kids at home. He wasn’t sure how he would feed them as he was out of work caring for his wife and his wife wasn’t able to work. He was in tears and completely devastated.

I listened for a while and he poured his heart out about all that was on his mind. I prayed for him and we gave him extra groceries and diapers as he was in great need. After we filled his car up and we said goodbye, he said “I don’t know what type of God you pray to, but I felt something touch me. I feel relaxed now.”

We believe living a generous, open-handed life is a significant step of faith in the journey of following Jesus.

GENEROSITY

Generosity, just like people, comes in all shapes and sizes. There are many ways to express generosity in our community, including giving financially, volunteering your time, and simply being generous toward others.

Since we moved from groups to Digital Meetups during the COVID-19 outbreak, there have been countless stories of community, connection, and decisions for Christ. Samantha Hope, a Churchome community member from Nairobi, Kenya began tuning in to Churchome about 3 years ago. She shares:

Churchome as a community has been God-sent. I went through difficult seasons where I could barely make it out of bed and I’d just roll over and tune in to Churchome and listen to Pastor Judah Smith. I’d then be reminded of God’s love for me and find the hope and strength to face one more day. It helped me hold on longer than I thought I could.

When the pandemic happened, I was able to connect even more via Digital Meetups and now I have people I consider good friends walking this journey with me. I’m grateful to be considered a part of this beautiful community from halfway across the world. I consider Churchome my church as well and look forward to more teachings and fellowship. I’m forever grateful.

TOTAL VOLUNTEER
HOURS SERVED

GENEROSITY

OUR MISSION

Churchome exists to tell the story of Jesus to the world. Our heart is that every person—every age, every race—would find a home in God.

A home where they belong.

Wherever you are in the world, you can experience real, authentic community through Church@Home.

CHURCH@HOME

Church@Home is church for everyone, everywhere. It’s gathering with other people, wherever you live, to do church together each week. We are reimagining spaces to connect with people so we are not limited by borders, buildings, or parking lots.

Church@Home is encountering God in community.

CHURCH@HOME AT A GLANCE
Launched October 2019

Easter in 2020 was unlike any other year as a result of a global pandemic. One Church@Home host shares the story of his Easter Sunday:

PASTOR CHAT

We have revolutionized the way we engage our community by leveraging technology.

Pastor Chat provides a way for anyone who would like prayer support, encouragement, or answers to specific and general questions to connect with a real, live human. People can connect via the Churchome website or mobile app. The technology allows for online chat, phone calls, and video calls.

WEEKLY SERVICES

Technology allowed us to continue telling the story of Jesus during a global pandemic.

Telling the story of Jesus is our primary purpose. Technology allowed us to continue telling His story by adapting quickly to COVID-19 and using our digital platforms to continue weekly services with our global community.

DIGITAL VIEWS

Digital views increased by more than 21x from pre- to since COVID-19.

AVERAGE WEEKLY REACH

Average weekly reach increased more than 4x from pre- to since COVID-19.

ANNUAL REPORT
2019-2020

With the onset of a global pandemic in early 2020, Churchome shifted our efforts from in-person groups to digital meetups to connect people.

Churchome offers meetups for every season of life—ranging in a variety of different activities, as well as meaningful conversations.

DIGITAL MEETUPS
OUR YOUNG PEOPLE

As a result of COVID-19, we quickly mobilized digital meetups for our young people. Our shift to digital ministries increased our digital reach by more than 3 times. ChurchKids releases fresh content each week and holds weekly ChurchKids parties every Sunday.

Youth@Home meetups also launched, providing opportunities for young people to get encouraged and make new friends.

COMBINED

• Give $1M to Convoy of Hope to provide one million meals.

• Give more than $135,000 in direct financial assistance to people and families nationwide.

• Serve nearly 11,000 weekly groceries to families in Washington and California.

COVID-19 RESPONSE

In COVID-19, our community has responded with overwhelming generosity. As a result, we have been able to:

SERVE YOUR CITY 2019

SYC is a day dedicated to serve and uplift our communities. This annual initiative seeks to bring our global community together in one collective effort, through multiple small-group meetups.

With 23 initiatives within the Seattle & Los Angeles areas, 320 volunteers served 1,280 hours towards projects that impacted our communities.

GENEROSITY

We believe living a generous, open-handed life is a significant step of faith in the journey of following Jesus.

Generosity, just like people, comes in all shapes and sizes. There are many ways to express generosity in our community, including giving financially, volunteering your time, and simply being generous toward others.

BUILDING COMMUNITY
PASTOR CHAT

Between January and June 2020, we have had more than 10,000 conversations with people from all over the country and world! These conversations have resulted in decisions for Christ, communion, baptisms, and helping people plug into community.

One Pastor Chat team member shares:

page-7-quote_mark-11.png
